Cursing around your child

Here is my question: Why does everyone always tell me that I should not curse around Maya because it will teach her to curse as well?

To some, cursing is considered foul, horrible, disgusting, a lack of words. To others, it is just a part of their vocabulary, a way of expressing ones emotions, just a little bit harder, more aggressively, dare I say, more passionately. I mean, I can say I love food, or I can say, I LOVE FUCKIN FOOD! See the difference? Well, at least I do.

When the day comes that Maya uses a curse word, I want to teach her to not use it in inappropriate situations, like at church, or around her grandparents. But I'd be lying to her all together if I said it is bad to do so, if I myself curse on an hourly basis.

Don't get me wrong, I know when to turn it off, or I try to remember to turn it off. I do feel like it can interfere with my "professional" vocabulary, but it's me. This is who I am. Should I change who I am to please YOU? Would you stop wearing your offensive cologne if I didn't like it? No, you'd still wear that stankonia old lady stuff because you like it.

And there goes the vampire screaming her balls off (I know she has no balls). I do want to curse at her and tell her to STFU! But I am not a mean momma. I know something is wrong, and what's wrong is that she is sick of being in the playpen and wants to be set FREE!
